1. About these terms
These terms apply to every purchase from Balete Blades made through this website. By completing a purchase you agree to them. Please read them together with our Shipping & Returns and Privacy Policy.
2. The pieces
Every knife is made by hand and is one of one. Natural materials such as wood, horn and forged steel vary; grain, pattern, colour and small marks of the making are characteristics of the piece, not defects. Photographs are representative of the specific piece offered, but screens differ, and dimensions and weights are given to reasonable hand-made tolerances.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase. Kitchen knives are subject to import, carry and ownership laws that vary by country. It is your responsibility to ensure you may lawfully import and own the piece at its destination. We may decline to ship to a destination where we believe it would be unlawful.
4. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in US dollars and include applicable VAT.
- A flat shipping fee of US$80 per order, covering insured, signature-required delivery, is added at checkout.
- Import duties and local taxes are not included and are the recipient's responsibility (see Shipping & Returns).
- Payment is taken through PayPal. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
5. When a sale is made
A contract is formed when PayPal confirms your payment. Because each piece is unique, adding it to your basket does not reserve it. Our checkout secures each piece for you before payment is taken; if another collector completes their purchase first, your payment will not be taken and you will not be charged.
6. Patron tier and commissions
Patron places are limited to three clients and are offered by application only, at our sole discretion. Commissions and Patron work are agreed individually in writing, including scope, price, deposit and timeline. Those individual agreements take precedence over these terms where they differ.
7. Errors
If a piece is listed at an obviously incorrect price, or described in error, we will contact you before dispatch and you may either proceed at the correct price or receive a full refund.
8. Care and use
Each piece is a sharp cutting tool intended for food preparation. Use it with care, keep it away from children, and follow the care guidance supplied. We are not responsible for injury or damage resulting from misuse, alteration, improper sharpening or failure to follow care guidance.
9. Warranty
We warrant each piece against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from delivery. This does not cover normal wear, chips or rolls from contact with bone, frozen food or hard surfaces, dishwasher use, corrosion from neglect, or damage in the owner's care. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
10. Intellectual property
All designs, photographs, films and text on this site belong to Balete Blades. Owning a piece does not grant rights to reproduce its design.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with a purchase is limited to the price paid for the piece. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines, and its courts have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
